Island Tour With Lindos And Filerimos – Full Day

Lindos* is not only the most picturesque, but also the most popular ancient site on the island. The only village of the three Doric towns which is still settled today, Lindos lies at the foot of a majestic outcrop of rock atop the mountain overlooking the bay. You will be impressed by the Acropolis, surrounded by an ancient fortress wall.

You are guided at the Temple of Athena Lyndia from where you will enjoy breath-taking views of the white-washed village houses and turquoise sea on the one side and the Bay of Saint Paul on the other. [We recommend care to be taken while climbing the well-worn steps to the acropolis.]

As you continue across the island to the west coast and through the villages of Apolakkia and Monolithos, you will stop in the village of Embona for lunch at one of the most popular “tavernas” where the famous RHODIAN cuisine is waiting to captivate your taste-buds. After the lunch break, you will then have the opportunity to try some “wine-tasting” at the local winery and try the locally produced honey and “Souma”, the local Fire-water.

The tour will continue by visiting *Filerimos Monastery and one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes, Ialyssos. There you may walk along the path of the “GOLGOTHA”, lined intermittingly by shrines depicting scenes of the Holy Passion.

This path ends at the massive Cross where one has a bird’s eye-view of the surrounding country-side, a great vantage-point for some photos. If you wish to enter the monastery you may do so for a small fee or you may sit under the trees at the Kiosk for a while.
